Hi, we’re Lana and Matt from Warrnambool in Victoria. We're thrilled to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally 2026 - Winter! We’ll be hitting the road in our $1,500-or-less Shitbox, a red 1992 Ford Falcon Wagon, with no less than 678,000km on the clock!
We are driving from Mildura to Townsville on an unforgettable 7-day adventure. It’s not just about the drive—it’s about making a real difference in the fight against cancer.
We are doing the rally in honour of Matt’s father, Pat Caveny, who lost a long battle with cancer in 2019. Losing his father, shortly after becoming a father himself, was an immense struggle and this rally is the perfect way to honour Pat’s memories.
we are also doing it for Lana’s mother Nola, who is currently going through breast cancer treatment.
The rally will raise vital funds for cancer research, helping the generations ahead to fight or prevent any future battles with cancer.
Every participating team is required to raise a minimum of $5,000. Every dollar raised goes directly to Cancer Council and helps fund vital cancer research, which is why we’re doing everything we can to hit our goal. Your support, whether big or small, will have a real impact.
So dig deep into those pockets and skip take away night this week, instead pop that money you’d eat away into a tax deductible donation. Knowing your donation is supporting a cause that we will all be intimately exposed to during our lifetime.
Stay tuned to see the red beast transform into a fire engine

They're doing what!?
Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Donate NowEvery rally. Every dollar.
