We're Driving a $1,500 Shitbox Through the Outback — For Cancer Research!
Yep, you read that right. We’re taking part in Shitbox Rally 2026 – Winter Edition, and that means 7 days, 4,000km, one totally questionable car, and a whole lot of dust, chaos, and cause-driven mayhem.
Our route? From Mildura to Townsville through some of the toughest, roughest and dustiest terrain the Aussie outback can throw at us.
Our car? A 1995 Mercedez-Benz W201 C250 diesel worth $1,500 or less, held together with cable ties, blind optimism, and the occasional prayer.
Our mission? To raise $5,000 for Cancer Council to fund life-saving cancer research. This isn’t just a road trip. It’s a rally with heart – and busted radiators.
Why we’re doing it: Like so many others, we’ve seen cancer impact people we care about — and this is our way of fighting back. 100% of what we raise goes to the Cancer Council to support cancer research. We’re footing the bill for the rally ourselves, so your support goes entirely to the cause.
How you can help: If you’ve ever wanted to support a great cause AND watch a couple of maniacs try to coax a dying car across the desert, this is your moment.Donate now and be part of this crazy, unforgettable, difference-making adventure.
Even a few bucks gets us one pothole closer to the finish line – and one step closer to a cancer-free future.
Let’s drive change. One shitbox at a time.
Mercules are fundraising for Cancer Council
They're doing what!?
Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
Donate NowEvery rally. Every dollar.
