🚗 Wingin’ It – Our Shitbox Rally Story 🚗
When “the answer’s always yes”, you never quite know where life will take you – and that’s how Team Wingin’ It was born. What started as a wild idea is about to turn into an adventure of a lifetime: The Shitbox Rally.
This isn’t your average road trip – it’s a dusty, unpredictable trek from Mildura to Townsville across some of the most remote parts of Australia, all in cars worth less than $1,500 (our trusty “shitboxes”). But more than the journey, it’s about raising money for a cause that matters: funding cancer research.
For us, this ticked all the boxes –
✔️A chance to do something on the bucket list.
✔️A chance to push ourselves way out of our comfort zone.
✔️A chance to laugh, cry, and share stories with a community of absolute legends.
✔️And most importantly, a chance to make a difference.
We don’t know exactly what’s ahead – breakdowns, flat tyres, getting lost, sleeping under the stars – but that’s part of the magic. The motto really is in our team name: we’re just Wingin’ It.
This rally isn’t just about cars – it’s about hope, resilience, and driving forward for every single person and family impacted by cancer. It’s about turning a crazy adventure into something meaningful.

Shitbox Rally is a 7-day challenge like no other. Participants drive cars worth no more than $1,500 through some of Australia's most stunning (and often rugged) landscapes, all in support of cancer research. It's not a race — it's a challenge and more importantly, a celebration of the power of community.
Yes, the cars break down, and yes, there are plenty of unexpected twists along the way, but that's all part of the fun.
The rally is designed to be a colourful and unpredictable experience, where teams travel in small groups, helping each other along the way.
And when the day's drive ends, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and reflect on the day's achievements.
This event brings together people who have been impacted by cancer in different ways — whether it's through their own battles or through loved ones. Together we'll make memories that last a lifetime while supporting the fight against cancer.
